Hmm this is a very hard question to answer! considering people with stage 2 brain cancer can live 1 year and people with stage 4 brain cancer can like 30 years! keep your head held high and pray for him and i will do the same!

It depends on several factors, like the Velocity of it’s growth, whether or not it has metastasized, and of course the type of treatment he is taking. The hormone treatment is rather ambiguous since it really means they are stopping his male hormone testosterone from being produced in his testicles and blocking the testosterone from entering the cells that have androgen receptors. This kind of treatment only arrests the growth of the cancer for a few years but doesn’t cure it. If he has radiation treatment it can kill all of the cancer cells in his prostate or cryo surgery which freezes the cancer an d both are excellent cures. Of course the surgically removal of the prostate is a excellent cure if it hasn’t spread outside of the prostate gland. At 81 yr of age the doctors might be thought he will dies from something else before the cancer kills him but I’m not in act of kindness of this selection for a cancer patient. You can find all the in rank you want on the following site and it’s the clinic everywhere I was treated and cured of prostate cancer 9 years ago. http://www.rcog.com/ which stands for Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia and is located in Atlanta, GA. With the right treatment your dad can live to die of ancient age. BTW, those bone scans are to see if it has spread to his bones and if it hasn’t the cancer is probably still confined to his prostate and he should seek another treatment besides that Hormone Ablation treatment.

You never know. My father was diagnosed with the same thing about 7 years ago. For 7 years, he was feeling fine and undergoing treatments. It is only recently that he has horrible back pain. We do know the cancer has spread to his bones, so this could be the cause of the pain. No one knows for sure how much time they have left. Your father could have 5 years left, he could have more, he could have less. Positive thought really helps. And treat him like a regular person, not as a sick person. He will appreciate it. Every situation is different, so not even your doctor can answer your question. I wish the best for your father.
